Living peacefully in your own home matters most. Relaxing evenings spent after a busy day is a moment to cherish every day. In the United States alone, most homes that are under protected are subject to crime involving theft, robbery and worst homicide. Keeping a safe home is a priority. Prevention begins outside your home the minute it comes to your view.

Here are a few tips on how you can protect your home from unwanted intruders.

 

1.       Don’t let thieves know that you are not at home.  Never announce that you are going out. Tweeting that you are at the Airport or sharing your status publicly that you are on vacation is an opening thieves like. Always make sure that the doors are always locked at all times and that you ask a neighbor to stop by to pickup mail, the newspaper or anything just to check the house. Always leave the interior lights on when going out at night. Thieves would most likely guess that someone is at the house if the lights are always ON.

2.       Eliminate the possible places where thieves can hide- Always trim trees and bushes. These are the most common hiding places thieves can go to. Light places that are very dark to eliminate the possibility that thieves can hide in those places.

3.       Install a Home Alarm System- Home Alarm systems will help you get the police as wuickly as you can and also limit the things your burglar can carry. Always make sure to engage the system at all times especially if you are going out or at another part of the house.

4.       Keep backyard clean- Always make sure that your yard is clean thieves can access broken windows. Never ever leave a ladder that thieves can gain access to.

5.       Always Close Doors and Windows- upgrade to shatterproof windows- make sure that sliding windows are also kept secure.  Security bars should be installed to sliding doors to prevent easy access. Install window locks that only allow the windows to open only a small inch.

With these safety precautions- you can be assured that the home is kept secure and you can sleep at night with the peace of mind that unauthorized people cannot gain access to the home.
